November 2011 Minutes Report of meeting held on 9 November 2011 at Kincorth Community Centre Kincorth/Leggart Community Council Item No. 1 Chair Chair intimated the meeting was inquorate with only eight members present. The police report would be taken first. 2 Attendance Members Graham Bennett Chair, Catherine Cowie Secretary, Hazel Park Treasurer, Iris Murray, Alexander Park, Glyn Sangster, Mary Wilson, Roy Wilson, Councillors Neil Cooney and Calum McCaig. Others PC John Fiddes, 3 Police Report This month has been reasonably quiet with the exception of vandalism of which there have been 13 incidents. Other incidents include two motorcycle, 1 drinking in public, one fire and fifteen public nuisance. There has also been one assault which has not yet been detected, one break in to a car and two thefts of a vehicle. In reply to a question whether there is a gang culture in our area PD Fiddes replied he is not aware of such culture. However there are one or two known offenders in the area. Constable Fiddes had no knowledge of pet dogs being stolen for dog fighting. He will enquire and contact Graham Bennett. Action PC Fiddes 4 Apologies Lee Brown, Lynne Brown, Maureen Downie, Robert Sangster, Heather White ACC. 5 Minutes of Previous Meeting These were noted as a correct record but could not be adopted due to the lack of a quorum. The problem of members not attending meetings was again discussed. The Secretary will contact those concerned and enquire whether anyone should be removed from our list of members. Karen Riddoch will be contacted to confirm the minimum number of members our council must have. Action Secretary 6 Business Arising 6.1 Ian Esslemont has been contacted regarding the play park. A roundabout is available if we have funds to install it and the surface around it at a cost of approximately £2500. There was again discussion on the possibility of funding from other sources. 6.2 At item 11.1 The bins on the beach promenade are to be replaced eventually. The grit bins and dog bins promised for our area have not yet been provided. Councillor McCaig explained the problems of recycling when the facilities are at some distance from the city. 6.3 At item 11.3 Auldearn Road potholes have been repaired. 7 Correspondence 7.1 Allison McInnes MSP Bear has been contacted regarding their lack of response to letters from our council. She was informed that legal action could be taken to make the area at ASDA on Anderson Drive a clearway. However this could take some considerable time due to the legal process. 7.2 Aberdeen City Council There are to be consultations up until 6 January 2012 on the review of parliamentary constituencies. Information of this is available on the www.bcomm/scotland.gov.uk website 7.3 Aberdeen City Council Information is available on the Revised Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils. This was passed to Roy Wilson to read and report back. A report has to go to City Council committee on 1 December. A draft of the report is available and the final report will be sent to community council along with revised area maps. This will be on the City council website after the committee meeting. Action Roy Wilson 7.4 Aberdeen City Council A review is to be made of the polling places in the city. There are no changes proposed for our area. 7.5 Aberdeen City Council A fund is available for community activities during the festive period. The information on this is very late to allow any event to be organised. 7.6 Aberdeen City Council An invitation is extended to our council to be represented at the memorial service on Remembrance Sunday. None of our members was available to attend. 7.7 Aberdeen City Council Residents are reminded to be aware of their safety and the protection of their home in the run up to winter. Information is available on the website www.readyscotland.org/my_community. 7.8 Salvation Army A concert is to be held in the Citadel on 14 December. 7.9 Aberdeen City Council Information is available on the City 5 year plan. Consultation meetings are to be held on 23, 28 November and 5 December. We are asked to confirm attendance by 14 November. None of our members are available to attend. 8 Treasurers Report A balance of £457.29 is available after the commitment of £2000 toward the play park. 9 Reports There were no reports this month 10 A.O.C.B 10.1 The Civic Forum is to meet on 17 November. 11 Date of Next Meeting The next meeting will be held on 14 December. |
