July 2011 Meeting Notes Kincorth/Leggart Community Council Present : Graham Bennett Chair, Catherine Cowie Secretary, Hazel Park Treasurer, Alex Park, Iris Murray, Councillor K Dean. Apologies : Councillors Cooney and McCaig, Gary Mitchell, Lynne and Lee Brown, Roy and Mary Wilson. Graham opened the meeting by thanking everyone for attending. He stated that as this wasn't a quorate meeting no decisions could be taken but rather it would be an informal meeting. He started the meeting by stating that he would like to pass on his congratulations to Councillor McCaig for his promotion to Head of the Council. He also stated that he was extremely sorry to hear that Patricia Fraser would no longer be attending our meetings due to a change in post. A letter of thanks would be sent on behalf of the Community Council thanking her for all her support and expertise over the years. Minutes of Previous Meeting As there wasn't a quorum present we were unable to agree the minutes of the previous meeting. KRAS Account Due to Lynne not being present this will have to be carried forward to the next meeting. It was noted that as the Community Centre office staff are due to finish working at the Community Centre at the end of the month there is a real need for this to be chased up urgently. Zebra Crossing Graham reported that this work had now been carried out. Upgrading of Parks Catherine reported that Mr Clunas was on annual leave and had been awaiting a response from Mr Esslemont of Aberdeen City Council with regard to meeting to discuss the upgrading of the park. Hopefully they would all be able to meet up before the next meeting. Hazel said that in the minutes of the last meeting it had been minuted that they would also meet with Kincorth Academy but no-one had any recollection of this being discussed at the last meeting. This was duly noted. Diary Lets Catherine reported that she had now received confirmation of the lets for the next year. Although the next meeting would be unable to go ahead on 10th August as the Community Centre would be closed for the "Big Clean" during that time. Big Lottery Fund An email had been received inviting any interested parties to attend an Information Day. As there were no more dates available in Aberdeen it was no longer relevant. First Aberdeen - Insurance Scheme A letter had been received from First Aberdeen stating that as from 6th June they would be offering insurance on a number of existing First season tickets. Walking Event Catherine reported that an email had been received from Mr G Morrison, Events and Projects Officer for Sport Aberdeen to say that he would be leading the proposed Aberdeen City Walking Project in conjunction with Paths for all. An event would be held to outline the project at Curl Aberdeen on Friday 22nd July 2011 from 9.30am - 13.30pm. Anyone interested can attend with details available from the Secretary. They are also available to meet with individual groups at a later date to discuss the initiative further if required. Kincorth Hill - Management of Deer Catherine reported that she had been in touch with Ian Talboys, Countryside Officer and he had indicated that he would attend the next meeting of the Community Council in August. Catherine had emailed him today to inform him that the next meeting would in fact be the 17th August and not the 10th due to the "Big Clean". Hopefully this should still be okay. First Aberdeen - Meeting with Stakeholders Catherine reported that she had received a letter from First Aberdeen asking what the best way forward was with regard to the Board of Directors of First Bus meeting with stakeholders. She had written back to them informing them that the Community Council met on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Children's Reporter Talk Catherine reported that she had received a response from Mark Masson, Clerk to Aberdeen Children's Panel stating that he had forwarded our request to Mrs Templeton, Authority Reporter for Aberdeen. A response was awaited. ASCC Trustees Announce Closure An email had been received with regards to the Association of Scottish Community Councils being wound up. Treasurers Report Hazel reported that there was £2196.29 in the account presently. Catherine reported that a response had been received from Karen Riddoch outlining the situation with regards to previous years funding. It was agreed that this now gave closure to the item. Anyone wishing to see the response should let Catherine know and this can be forwarded. Reports There were no reports to take, so this would be carried to the next meeting. Community Planning Officer Catherine reported that she had received an email from Elaine Sinclair, Community Planning Officer stating that our main contact in future liaison would be a Capacity Building Officer. Date of Next Meeting This would be held on Wednesday 17th August at 6.30pm (PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN DATE). |
