(*2) There is no provision in the Scheme relative to date for withdrawal of nominations. The proposed date allows candidates a reasonable opportunity to consider their positions in the light of other nominations received and avoid unnecessary printing of ballot papers in the event that a withdrawal results in an uncontested election. The above timetable gives a period of 31 days between the initial press notice and the closing date for receipt of nominations. Charles Lowe has advised that nomination are better to be in earlier than the closing date and time so that any errors in the nomination form can be sorted before the closing on nominations. |
